Protection of Tenants at Foreclosure Act

Keeping foreclosed rental properties occupied and preventing household displacement can stabilized stressed communities

Tenants in foreclosed rental properties have a right to remain in their homes following a foreclosure under certain circumstances.

How can communities make sure tenants are protected and foreclosed houses remain occupied?

1.  Make sure that tenants know their rights under PTFA.
2.  Make sure that sheriff's departments are not kicking out tenants who have a right to stay in the property.
3.  Make sure that real estate agencies who are handling REO accounts are knowledgable about their duties under PTFA obligations.
